PostSubject: Gestational Diabetes   Tue 19 Oct 2010, 3:01 pm

Hi everyone,

Well, as the title says I've just been diagnosed with GD. Was sort of expecting it because my mum and grandmother both had it, but if it's not one thing it's another. Anyway, just glad it wasn't PE (bloods for that still clear).

Had a scare Mon when I saw the Consultant though. I was 24+2, the exact gestation I got admitted last time and my BP was measured at 150/90! Was so so nervous though and could tell it was going go be high. Anyway, Consultant said that they were going to repeat it a couple more times and if it was still that high they were going to admit me beacuse this is when it all kicked off last time. I was so scared, it totally felt like deja vu, but luckily it came down to my normal level of 120/60-70.

Just when you feel you can breathe a little easier something else crops up!

Sorry for whingeing, hope everyone else is ok.
Emma xxx

I'm sorry about the GD, but as you know its much more manageable than PE. I'm sure you will now get extra GD monitoring to look after you both from that perspective too xx

Hi Emmie,

Im sorry to that GD has appeared, but eequally pleased that PE has not popped up.
The 'white coat' effect plays havoc with a blood pressure in a worried mum, but relatively easy to differentiate!

I hope that baby continues to cook along nicely for at least another 10 weeks or more!
Best Wishes

Every Woman is entitled to understand what happened in her pregnancy when pre eclampsia strikes. I hope to be able to support that process.
