travel insurance for high risk pregnancy Empty
PostSubject: travel insurance for high risk pregnancy   travel insurance for high risk pregnancy EmptyTue 15 Jun 2010, 10:10 pm

Hi,

I am due to travel for work in July (when I will be 16 weeks pregnant to Tunisia), but my work travel insurance policy does not cover pregnancy at all. I'm sure its really very safe for me to travel at this stage, my consultant agrees, but I'm wondering whether anyone will insure me for pregnancy given my past history!

Does anyone know of any companies which might consider quoting for me; I'm sure it will be very expensive but work will pay!

Thanks

Hi Jules,

Freedom Insurers might be worth a try.
They are specialists in 'existing medical conditions' insurance and often without additional a premium penalty.
If you Quote BPA you will also get a 10% discount on your premium.
They may ask for a 'fit to travel' certificate first though.

Also, check the 'repatriation' details. Should the worst happen you will probably just want to get home ASAP!

Hope this helps.

Best Wishes
Liz

Hi

Try Direct Travel Insurance. When I was pregnant with my 2nd and was high risk they where cheapest and give quite good cover. They even cover for volcanic ash when most other companies where finding ways not to pay.

Thanks for this - Direct Travel gave me the best quote, and no more than their "standard" policies.

Work have a travel insurance policy, but it annoys me that it excludes any pregnant woman at any gestation (not just me). They are happy to cover those with heart disease or cancer! Honestly, that makes no sense at all (rant over).
