Hi all,
As you may know, the issues surrounding those such as education for the premature baby is a bit of a 'hobby horse' for me.
I have been working closely with BLISS on this issue and today I gave another interview challenging the subject of the Education Authorities and the Education of the Premature baby.
The ethos of which is the decree made by parliament that is morally correct but fails to come to fruition 'Every Child Matters'. This includes every child, able and disable, full term and premature. Except we know babies who are prem have many 'hidden' disability.
As I have said before, the Medical world has advanced so brilliantly our early babies now have every chance at survival - it is so frustrating that in many cases it seems, the educational world lags behind & our childrens difficulties are being over looked. There is no 'category' to slot in to.
And deferrment to start school from 4 years till 5 years of age are seldom discussed.
Read the whole interview in this coming edition of the BLISS magazine...These issues are often a great trigger for the 'Nationals' to want more - so if anyone is willing to share their story do let me know!
There is also the petition supporting the issue of adequate educational screening of the prem baby in readiness for school.
